Rewind
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 August 2026
Rewind is a members' dating and social app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We designed Rewind to share as little as possible: no phone numbers, no social handles, and location only when you turn it on. Where something may surprise you, such as when our team can read messages, we have said so plainly rather than hidden it in a list.
1. Who we are
Rewind is operated by Elysium Marketing Ltd ("Rewind", "we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at privacy@rewinddating.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account details: your email address, a securely hashed password, username, and display name. If you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your email address, name and profile picture from them, and a permanent identifier for your account with that provider. We never receive your Google or Apple password.
- Your application: if you applied to join, the answers and photographs you submitted, and who referred you.
- Profile: anything you add: bio, photos, gender, city, interests, and (if you choose to verify) a short verification video.
- Activity in the app: posts and comments you write, the members you scan ("Rewinds"), your private decisions and notes, references and endorsements you give or receive, event tickets, and messages and media you send.
- Approximate location: only when you switch on "Nearby". We use it to show distance to other members. We never share your exact coordinates with anyone; other members only ever see an approximate distance. Location sharing turns itself off automatically.
- Sign-in and technical data: your IP address, browser or device information, and the date, time and method of each sign-in. We keep a history of these.
- Payment data: membership is billed by Stripe. Stripe handles your card details directly and we never see or store your full card number. We hold your Stripe customer reference, your membership status and your billing history.
3. How we use your information
- To create and operate your account and profile.
- To let you meet, match with, message, post to the members' wall and vouch for other members.
- To power features you choose to use, such as Nearby and verification.
- To take payment for membership and manage your subscription.
- To keep Rewind safe: reviewing reports, investigating conduct, enforcing our rules, and preventing abuse, fraud and duplicate or banned accounts.
- To meet our legal obligations.
Our lawful bases are: contract (running your membership), legitimate interests (keeping members safe, preventing abuse, securing the service), consent (Nearby, and any marketing email), and legal obligation where one applies.
4. Your messages
Messages and shared media are stored on our servers so that conversations work across your devices and so that we can investigate reports. Messages you send are visible to the person you send them to, and to our team in the circumstances described in section 6.
A correction. An earlier version of this policy said messages disappeared after 24 hours. That was not accurate: messages are retained. We have corrected it rather than quietly leave it, and you should treat anything you send as recorded until you delete your account.
We do not use your private messages for advertising, and we do not sell them.
5. Who can see your information
- Other members: your profile as your privacy setting allows, anything you post to the members' wall, and your messages to the people you send them to. Intimacy interests are only ever shown to a member who shares that same interest.
- Our team: as described in section 6.
- Our service providers: hosting, database, email delivery and payment processing, acting on our instructions.
- We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
6. Access by our team
We want to be plain about this rather than bury it.
- Reviewing content, including messages. Our team can read messages, posts and profile content when investigating a report, a safety concern, suspected fraud, or a breach of our rules. We do this to protect members, not out of curiosity.
- Signing in to your account. An authorised member of our team can sign in to your account to provide support or investigate a serious concern. This gives access to everything you can see, including your messages. Every such sign-in is recorded with the account and the time, and the record is kept.
- Sign-in history. We review IP addresses and sign-in records to detect banned members returning under new accounts, and to investigate abuse.
Access is limited to people who need it to do this work. If you would like to know whether your account has been accessed by our team, ask us at privacy@rewinddating.com.
7. Blocking and removal
If you break our rules we may suspend or block your account, and may block the IP address used, to stop the behaviour continuing or an account being remade. When we block an account we keep the account record and its history, because we may need it if the matter is disputed or reported to us again, or if we are required to produce it.
8. Retention and deletion
- You can delete your account at any time from Account in the app. This permanently removes your profile, posts, messages, rewinds and references.
- Verification videos are deleted once a founder has reviewed them.
- Sign-in records, including IP addresses, are kept for up to 12 months for security.
- Records of blocked accounts and addresses, and records of team sign-ins, are kept for as long as needed for safety and to defend legal claims.
- Billing records are kept for six years, as UK tax law requires.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access a copy of your data, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time. Email privacy@rewinddating.com and we will respond within one month.
If you are not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
10. Security
Passwords are hashed and never stored in readable form. Data is encrypted in transit. Access to member data by our team is limited to those who need it, and signing in to a member's account is recorded.
11. Age requirement and international transfers
Rewind is for adults aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and we close accounts we discover belong to under-18s.
Our providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on the UK's adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses with the UK addendum.
12. Changes to this policy
If we make a significant change we will tell members in the app or by email. The date at the top of this page always shows when it last changed.
